Park City considers no-idling resolution

Last Update: 11/06/2009 2:34 pm

PARK CITY, Utah (AP) - The City Council in Park City is considering a resolution that would make the mountain community idle-free.

But the resolution wouldn't enforce fines for people who leave their cars running while not moving.

If the resolution passes, city officials hope to put up signs in areas known to have idling problems and partner with nonprofit groups to educate residents about why it is bad to leave cars and trucks running.

The council heard a report on the issue last month and city employees are now drawing up the resolution.

Park City has a no-idling policy for city vehicles.

Utah Moms for Clean Air proposed the no-idling idea for Park City.
