SPRINGVILLE, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A Springville icon was laid to rest Monday. Fire Chief Phil Whitney was remembered today as a great leader and close friend.

Dozens gathered to honor the Springville fire chief, who passed away last week at the age of 72.

He was the only full-time fire chief in the department's history. A special procession by emergency personnel and an honor guard led vistors from a springville LDS chapel to the Evergreen Cemetery.
